Career in Human Resources

In this article I will answer one question I have often been discussed lately: “What can I do to work in human resources?”.

It’s almost a myth that only graduates of the Faculty of Education could be a good scooter. Cons argument: Many HR professionals have studied economics, foreign languages or technical faculties. Faculty is a very good opportunity to explore and choose your career, but not necessarily an opportunity to prepare in a field. Of course, a degree in psychology and a master’s degree in Human Resources for enriching his CV, but the actual experience remains the cornerstone. So, if experience counts and you are in the threshold for a first job, what would you do?

A lack of experience are no longer an obstacle.

To start in this area, you can choose for one of the following:

Apply an internship program. There are already many programs and internal training organized by multinational corporations, many of which are concentrated in the salons of the course.

The demand for HR professionals is expected, much faster than the average in the next ten years to grow compared to other areas, according to latest statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics of the Government. Total employment in this sector – including human resources, training and labor relations managers and specialists – is expected to grow 22% between 2008 and 2018.

What drives this positive image for HR professionals? The health legislation recently passed health care reform, the demand for specialists, creative services can increase the potential employees design. Also “to leave the legislation and judicial decisions of the review of standards of different professional safety and health, equal opportunities, wages, health, pensions and family, by, among other things to increase the demand for HR, training and industrial relations experts,” the BLS Web site.

The market for training and development specialists to increase faster than the human resources managers. With the baby boomers and retirement are increasingly complex, it is expected that completion of the course will be an increase in demand in the coming years to see.

Graduates and those who have received certification, have the best careers in the human growth. A bachelor is a typical requirement of Human Resources jobs, but the way of education to a career in human resources is very variable. Because many colleges and universities do not offer bachelor’s degree in personnel administration, human resources or labor relations, it is acceptable to the level of diploma, an interdisciplinary education with a combination of courses, social science, business and behavioral sciences. Someone could without a degree or experience in human resources as a supplement to their completion with a certificate in human resources.

HR professionals also have the option of several different certification programs, the opportunities for professional growth should promote ‘needs. The Society for Human Resource Management offers two levels of certification, including professionals in the field of Human Resources (PHR) and Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). Other certification programs are administered by the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD), International Foundation prepare for the workers and WorldatWork Society of Certified Professionals.

Linfield offers an online certificate in Human Resource Management, where all four HR courses are offered online, making access to education for human resources easier than ever before.
